Motor Show is the place where automotive legends are revealed to the world. From the lustiest Lamborghinis to the fastest Ferraris, the boldest BMWs to the meanest Maseratis– they first see the light of the press in Frankfurt. To get the jump on their competition, most manufacturers show their cards before the Motor Show even kicks off. To show you what is going to be hot at this year’s Motor Show, here are the sexiest cars that will be shown at one of the greatest auto shows on the planet.
Lamborghini Reventon Roadster
One of the world’s most expensive automobiles will go convertible at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009. The Lamborghini Reventon Roadster will be officially revealed to show goers in Frankfurt, the first in-the-flesh showoff since this roadster was teased many weeks ago. This new Lamborghini Reventon will be powered by a 650HP V12 engine, capable of breaking speeds of 211 MPH on the top end, making its way to 60 in just shy of 3.4 seconds. Like it’s hard top version, the Lamborghini Reventon Roadster is pricey as hell– costing $1.75 million to the buyers of the 20 of these Lambo’s that will see production.
Audi R8 Spider Convertible
Like the Lamborghini above, Audi will be showing off it’s own topless beauty at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Audi R8 Spider Convertible is all business under the hood, but it’s top side is nothing but party. A supercar in its own light, this V10-powered R8 is competitive on the track, with a full 525HP and a screaming speed pushing 200mph. A suggestion– if you’re going to try those speeds, either put the top up… or prepare for early male-pattern baldness.
Maserati GranCabrio
You may have noticed a common element to the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show– all the top luxury and performance automakers are chopping their tops off. Maserati is amongst the forefront of this trend, showing off their new Maserati GranCabrio long before the other automakers showed their own cards. The Maserati GranCabrio is a convertible version of the GranTurismo, featuring a 4.7L V8 pushing 433HP. Pricing and availability details are still on the low, but we can’t imagine picking up the keys to one of these for less than $200k.
Mini Coupe Concept
The Mini Cooper brand celebrated it’s 50th anniversary recently with the revelation of the new Mini Coupe Concept. This stylish upgrade to the speedy Mini included a 1.6L turbocharged engine capable of 211 horsepower– more than enough for a speedy little devil not packing a lot of weight. The Mini is due for a production upgrade, so if this concept sees the factory it’ll make Mini fans and new prospective buyers quite fulfilled.
